When your days start running together, here’s how to get excited about your life EVERY single day.

Have you ever fallen into bouts of sadness or boredom in your life? Do you ever have those days where you feel like there’s nothing to look forward to? Or how about a time in your life where recent events have taken a toll on your overall mood and you feel yourself falling into a slight depression? I know I’ve been there way too many times to count. To be honest, these past few months have felt that way for me.
My biggest unhealthy habit during these times is oversleeping. Sometimes, I use naps in order to speed up my days. I tend to sleep so I can avoid boredom or stressful things I don’t want to deal with. This past month, though, I’ve been feeling very happy. So happy, in fact, that my mental health has improved my tension headaches and my daily fatigue has almost diminished.
This past month, I learned a very valuable lesson about improving the quality of my life. You see, excitement in your life isn’t going to happen every single day. I am one of those people that tend to get bored or sad easily when I am not actively doing something. The truth of the matter is, life isn’t always going to be a thrilling adventure. There’s going to be days that are just work, sleep, and repeat. The thing that I have learned recently is that making plans for the future keeps my mind occupied every day.
I’m moving out of my apartment in less than a month and I couldn’t be more anxious and thrilled to experience this new chapter in my life. February isn’t going by quick enough! Instead of falling back into old patters such as dreadfully longing for the day to come, I’ve been keeping my mind busy by daydreaming away. I’ve been creating lists and spreadsheets of all the new furniture, appliances, and home decor I’d like to buy. I have a lot of fun going to Target and taking photos of all the things I’d like to purchase as soon as I move in. Although it feels like a long stretch of time until I move out, I refuse to be moping around my apartment all month because that day isn’t quite here yet.
The point I’m trying to make is, find something in your life to look forward to. Consider learning a new recipe or learn to meal prep for the week. Buying grocery’s and planning your favorite meals is always a treat. If you have a friend’s birthday coming up, why not plan them a surprise party? Anyone in need of a baby shower or bachelorette party? How about a simple kick back with your closest friends?
Take on some responsibility and plan something fun to look forward to. Anything to keep your mind busy and your heart happy! Spend each day creating new ideas and get excited for them.
